What to expect this year?
This year’s Festival is proud to bring you Mercedes Ruiz, one of Flamenco’s most important female dancers of our time. This show will be exhilarating and a rich experience of Flamenco dance and music.
Preview Mercedes and the excitement of the Festival
New to the Festival this year will be opening acts showcasing Canadian Flamenco companies
Of course, an integral part of the Festival is the Workshop where Mercedes Ruiz and her company will share their artistic excellence with North American students of Flamenco dance, guitar and singing.
New to the Workshops is the introduction of the Professional Development Seminars for dancers and musicians of all genres and styles. This series was created to help artists have access to the information and resources for the arts
"The show is dedicated to Jerez, and the Barrio of San Miguel, the quarter where I was born, the birthplace of great flamenco artists. From San Miguel came singers such as Manuel Torre and Antonio Chacón, the overwhelmingly powerful “Faraona”, the rhythmical voice of La Paquera and many more great artists.
With this work my intention is to offer my sincere tribute to the city of Jerez, an inexhaustible source of flamenco and all its artistry."
